Texas Home and Garden will be bringing you several informative seminars and workshops. From gardening to home inspections you’ll find there’s plenty to learn at the Houston NRG show. Workshops have limited seating, follow on-site instructions for participation guidelines.

KidsZone

Texas Home and Garden is bringing back the KidsZone! With inflatables, sports challenges, and all sorts of activities to keep your kiddos entertained. Strolling the aisles, chatting with experts, and finding amazing show-only deals can be fun for the adults but it might not be so amazing for the kids but the THG KidsZone makes the Houston show a destination for the whole family!

Workshops

Seating is limited. Registration is available at the Show Management Office. Availability is first-come, first-served.

Saturday

Daylilies 101 – 12:00pm – Mike Mayfield

This workshop is designed to teach the basics of growing daylilies in our Houston climate. Participants will learn the process of how to collect, store, and plant daylily seeds. Additionally, workshop attendees will learn how to properly divide and replant large clusters of daylilies. Bonus – Each attendees will receive a daylily.

Kitchen Herb Gardens – 2:00pm – Janice Brown

Participants will learn how to grow their own fresh herbs and how to care for and maintain each herb in their garden. Under the guidance of Janice Brown, workshop attendees will plant herb seeds to take home and transfer into their own kitchen container or their backyard garden!

Hybridizing Daylilies – 3:30pm – Mike Mayfield

Everything you want to know about hybridizing and naming your very own daylily. This session will walk you through the process of how to hybridize daylilies and how to formalize your very own plant!

Workshop Bios

Mike Mayfield

Mike is one of the founders of Lone Star Daylily Society as well as the past President of the society. He is also a Brazoria County Master Gardener and teaches several classes each year on varies gardening topics with daylilies being is favorite topic. He is also an American Hermorocallis Society Judge and has been invited to judge the quality of daylilies for many years through the state of Texas.

Janice Brown

Janice is the founder of On the Grow garden coaching service. On the Grow teaches people how to be successful gardeners in the sometimes difficult Gulf Coast climate. On The Grow provides garden education for home gardeners, outdoor classrooms, community and workplace gardens. Janice provides step-by-step basics, helping her clients experience the healing benefits of gardening.
